AMES, Iowa – No. 8 Iowa State overpowered Central College 105-53 in its exhibition game Wednesday night. The Cyclones shot 50 percent from the field in the contest, making 42 of their 84 shots.
Iowa State made 15 3-pointers on 38 attempts, good for nearly 40 percent. The Cyclones also dominated the Dutch on the boards, collecting 56 rebounds compared to Central's 31.
Audi Crooks led the Cyclones in scoring with 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting, followed by Alisa Williams with 13 points, Aili Tanke with 11, Addy Brown with 10 and Sydney Harris with 10.
How it Happened
The Cyclones started hot out of the gates, scoring the first eight points in the game and never looking back. They finished the first quarter with a 30-10 lead after shooting over 50 percent from the field.
The Cyclones continued their dominance in the second quarter, outscoring the Dutch 25-10 to take a 35-point lead into the locker room. Audi Crooks was the first Cyclone to crack double-figures with just over a minute left in the period, getting her 10th point of the game off an offensive rebound and putting the Cyclones over 50-point mark in the game. Tanke and Reagan Wilson combined for three 3-pointers in the period.
Williams started the second half with nine points and Crooks kept rolling in the third quarter, adding six more points on three shots to help the Cyclones take an 82-39 lead into the final period.
The Cyclones started the fourth by nailing two-straight 3-pointers from Sydney Harris and Lily Hansford. The 52-point victory was sealed as the Cyclones will now set their sights on the regular season.
Top Performers
Audi Crooks picked up where she left off from last season, tallying 20 points and nine rebounds in the win. Alisa Williams finished with a double-double in her Cyclone debut after putting up 13 points and 10 boards. Addy Brown added a near-triple-double, totaling 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
