AMES, Iowa – No. 8 Iowa State (4-1, 0-0 Big 12) fell to UNI (3-1, 0-0 MVC) Wednesday night by a final score of 87-75.
Audi Crooks and Addy Brown both had double-doubles in the loss. Crooks had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Brown tallied 21 points and 12 boards. Emily Ryan and Kenzie Hare also scored in double figures. Maya McDermott scored 37 for the Panthers on 66.7 percent shooting from the field.
How it Happened
Brown got the Cyclones going by nailing a jumper within the first 10 seconds of the game to give ISU an early lead. After the Panthers went on a 7-2 run to take a three-point lead, Ryan cashed in two straight triples to give the Cyclones a 10-7 advantage. Iowa State would take a 14-12 lead into the first media timeout. Each team scored nine points in the last four minutes of the quarter as the Cyclones led 23-21 after the first.
Iowa State opened the second quarter by hitting one three each by Ryan and Sydney Harris. After six straight Panther points, Ryan got a layup to go to put the Cyclones up 31-27 and force a UNI timeout. The Panthers came out of the break swinging though, going on a 9-4 run to re-take the lead, 36-35 with 3:32 left in the first half. But with the help of Brown scoring seven of her 17 first-half points in the final three minutes, the Cyclones took a 44-41 lead into the locker room.
Crooks started the second half strong by hitting two layups before a Kenzie Hare three-pointer to extend the lead to eight early in the half. The Panthers fought back once again though, trimming the lead to just 53-51 at the third quarter media timeout. UNI continued their run out of the timeout, earning a three-point advantage with 2:15 left in the period. The Panthers would make their final two threes in the third to take a 64-55 lead into the final quarter.
Each team scored five points in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter before a Panther three to take a 12-point lead forced the Cyclones to burn a timeout with 6:39 left in the game. UNI held on to win the game, 87-75.

Addy Brown recorded her 13th career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Brown also had five assists, a steal and a block.
