AMES, Iowa – Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht has been named one of the Manning Award's eight Stars of the Week. It is the second time this season Becht has earned the weekly recognition from the award.
Becht was clutch once again as he led ISU on a 10-play, 75-yard drive that was capped by the go-ahead touchdown with 1:31 to go, keeping the Cyclones in the mix to reach the Big 12 Championship game with a 31-28 road victory over Utah. Becht was 4-of-5 for 35 yards passing and used his feet for 10 additional yards rushing on the drive.
It was Becht's third game-winning drive of the season where Iowa State took the lead with under two minutes remaining in the game.
The sophomore quarterback was 20-of-38 for 256 yards and a touchdown against the Utes. It marked Becht's 15th-straight game with a passing touchdown - a school record - and the sixth time in the last seven games he has surpassed 250 yards passing.
