Houston, Texas – The Iowa State tennis team picked up three victories on day two of the Rice Invitational in Houston.
In doubles, both pairs for ISU split their two matches on the day. In flight one, Cristina Ramos Sierra and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar fell to Texas, Rio Grande Valley's Letizia Corsini and Vittoria Baccino, 7-6 (5), before defeating Texas A&M's Lizanne Boyer and Jeanette Mireles, 7-6 (6). In flight two, Ashlee Narker and Gabriela Felix downed Texas, Rio Grande Valley's Madeleine Joffe and Yaiza Vasquez, 6-4, then went down to Kenna Erickson and Indi Patel from LSU, 7-5.
In singles, Felix picked up a win, defeating Texas, Rio Grande Valley's Maria Araoz-Gosn, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1. Narker had to withdraw from her match due to injury, while Ramos Sierra and Alberto Vilar both fell in their singles matches.
