Terukina Wins Soldier Salute

CORALVILLE, Iowa - Kysen Terukina won the 125-pound title at the Soldier Salute Monday evening inside Xtream Arena.
The Hawaii native went 3-0 at the tournament to claim the top spot on the podium. Terukina put an exclamation point on his tournament with a last second takedown to defeat Missouri's Mack Mauger, 5-4, in the finals.
Terukina also defeated Iowa's Joey Cruz and UNI's Garret Rinken, as well as teammate Ethan Perryman, in the tournament.
Since his return from injury that held him out most of the first semester, Terukina is 5-0.
No. 13 Iowa State returns to dual action Jan. 8 at West Virginia for its first Big 12 road dual.
