Cyclones Unveil 2025 Softball Schedule

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State softball coach Jamie Pinkerton has announced the team's complete 2025 schedule. Iowa State will host 17 home contests at the Cyclones Softball Complex as part of a 53-game schedule.
"I like this year's schedule for our team," says Coach Pinkerton. "With us losing a majority of our starters a year ago, our early slate will help acclimate and challenge our new contributors. We have good RPI games in the non-conference and the Big 12 will be competitive as usual."
The Big 12 officially announced each team's conference schedule on Oct. 29. For a detailed look at the conference slate, click here. Big 12 play begins March 7, and the Cyclones will only have eight conference series this season instead of nine like last year.
ISU's non-conference slate features five early season tournaments, with the Cyclones traveling to Florida, California, Arizona, Louisiana and Mississippi for tournaments all within the first six weeks of the season. Iowa State will have four Big 12 weekend series, as well as four home midweeks, highlighted by the first of two Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series games on April 15.
The Cyclones will face ten teams who qualified for NCAA Regionals last season, including two, Oklahoma State and Florida, who made the Women's College World Series. In total, the Cyclones will play at least 19 games against teams who competed in last year's postseason. Joining OSU and UF as teams who played in the tournament last year on the Cyclone schedule are Indiana, Saint Mary's, Grand Canyon, Southeastern, Ole Miss, UCF, Utah and Baylor.
Iowa State will open 2025 with 28 straight games away from Ames, with 22 coming in tournament play. The FIU Invitational, Wilson Invitational, Sun Devil Classic and Mardi Gras Mambo occupy the first four weeks for ISU. The Cyclones will take a break from tourney play for a conference road series in Houston before heading to Ole Miss for the Rebel Invitational. The mammoth road trip ends March 20-22 when ISU heads to Orlando to square off with UCF.
After the home-opening series against Arizona State, the Cyclones will welcome South Dakota State to the CSC for a doubleheader – the only doubleheader currently scheduled. ISU stays in Ames and will then welcome BYU for a Thurs.-Sat. series (4/3-4/5) before welcoming Kansas City to Ames on 4/9 for the second midweek of the season.
Following a weekend trip to Stillwater, the Cyclones return to Ames to face Iowa on April 15. This year, the Cy-Hawk softball game has been split into two, a home-and-home, with each game counting as a point toward the series standing. After the Hawkeyes, ISU will play host to the Jayhawks across the weekend of April 17-19.
After facing six of seven opponents at home, ISU will then face three straight opponents on the road, beginning with an April 22 trip to UNI. Following the Panthers matchup in Cedar Falls, ISU will head to Salt Lake City to match up with Utah. The Cyclones will close out the road trip in Iowa City on April 29, facing Iowa in the second game of the Cy-Hawk Series.
The Cyclones will then close regular season play at home, first with an April 30 midweek game against Drake before a Big 12 regular-season finale against Baylor.
Big 12 Tournament play then starts on May 7 in Oklahoma City.
