Completed Event: Men's Basketball at Utah on February 24, 2026 , Win , 75, to, 59

02.01.2024 | Men's Basketball
For the first time this season, each Cyclone on an NBA roster saw action in the same week. Members of the 2016 Sweet Sixteen team - Monté Morris and Georges Niang – faced off to close the month of January.
Georges Niang - #20, Cleveland Cavaliers (29-16)
The Cavaliers continued their torrent pace as they picked up their eleventh win in the last 12 outings, winning all three contests this week. Niang saw his six-game streak of scoring in double figures snapped against Morris and the Pistons on Wednesday night.
Across the Cavs' last 12 games, Niang is averaging 12.9 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds and he's shooting 44.8 percent from downtown as Cleveland is one of the hottest teams in the Association.
Don't worry, TT. Georges Niang will hold it down on the postgame show with @CavsJMike! 😅 pic.twitter.com/S0h9IOFO17

Niang's Week: 8 PPG, 3 RPG, 2.7 APG
Next Week: @ MEM (2/1), @ SAS (2/3), vs. SAC (2/5), @ WAS (2/7)
Monté Morris - #5, Detroit Pistons (6-41)
Morris and the Pistons went 1-2 on the week, but the squad is 2-2 since Monté returned from injury as they were just 4-29 without him. Morris has brought a steadying presence to the court as he has slotted right into the backup point guard position for the Pistons.
Detroit's lone this week came on Sunday when they took down the Oklahoma City Thunder (the Western Conference two seed). The 16-point home win over the Thunder was tied for Detroit's largest win of the season and was also Monté's best game of his small sample size. He tallied nine points, burying one three and shot 50 percent from the floor.

The highlight of the week though was Monté matching up with former teammate Georges Niang in Cleveland. The two were teammates for three seasons in Ames and went to a pair of Sweet Sixteens together.
Morris's Week: 6 PPG, 1.3 APG, 1.3 RPG
Next Week: vs. LAC (2/2), vs. ORL (2/4), @ SAC (2/7)
Tyrese Haliburton - #0, Indiana Pacers (27-21)
After attempting to return from a grade 1 hamstring last week, Haliburton was advised to rest a few more games. He didn't appear in Indiana's first two contests this week but made his return in Boston, where he only played 22 minutes due to a minutes restriction. He's only played in two of the last twelve games for the Pacers.
Against Boston, Haliburton dropped his 28th double-double of the season, recording 13 points to pair with 10 assists and only one turnover in his limited time on the court. Among the highlights in Haliburton's return was a halfcourt buzzer-beater going into the half.

Though Tyrese is still working his way back to the court, he was named an All-Star game starter last Thursday afternoon. Haliburton became the first Cyclone to ever start in an NBA All-Star contest and was voted into the event for the second straight season. Overall, it is the third time a Cyclone has been voted into the contest, with Jeff Hornacek in 1992 being the other.
