Lipsey Named to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist

ATLANTA – Iowa State sophomore Tamin Lipsey has been named to the 2024 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist Presented by AXIA Time.

Of the 15 players named to the watchlist, four of them are from the Big 12. Lipsey is one of just three underclassmen on the watch list.

Lipsey has been stuffing the stat sheet all season, averaging 13.5 points, 5.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game. He is one of just four NCAA Division I men's basketball players since 1992-93 to average those numbers in a season. His 3.1 steals per game rank second in the nation, while his school record streak of 34-straight games with a steal is also the second-longest active streak in the country.

The No. 14 Cyclones return to action Saturday afternoon, hosting TCU at Hilton Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
