Iowa State Falls To No. 27 Texas Tech, 4-0

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team fell to the No. 27 Texas Tech Lady Raiders, 4-0, at home on Saturday.
In doubles, Gala Arangio and Valeska San Martin went up against Cristina Tiglea and Mariya Polishchuk at the No. 2 doubles spot. Arangio and San Martin fell, 6-1. Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Isabella Dunlap had a tough match up against the nation's No. 7 doubles pair in Avelina Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac. The pair fought hard in closing the gap to 3-2, but ultimately fell, 6-2. This allowed the Lady Raiders to clinch the doubles point and take 1-0 lead over the Cyclones heading to singles.
San Martin went up against Yekatarina Dmitrichenko in singles. The freshman from Ecuador grabbed 1-0 lead in the first but couldn't keep up with Dmitrichenko in the following sets dropping the match, 6-1, 6-0. This put Texas Tech within two wins of clinching the match.
Ashlee Narker battled hard in her match against Sayfetdinova but was ultimately defeated as she dropped her match, 6-1, 6-3. The win at the No. 3 spot allowed the Lady Raiders to put themselves within one win of taking the match.
Isabella Dunlap went up against Polishchuk at the No. 2 singles spot. She fought in two tightly contested matches but ultimately fell, 6-2, 6-1. This allowed Texas Tech to take the match, 4-0.
The rest of the matches were abandoned after Texas Tech clinched the win. Kuearum was leading No. 85 Cristina Tiglia, 6-2, 3-1 when the match was called.
