AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team is on the road again as it travels to Texas to take on No. 30 Baylor and No. 52 TCU this weekend for a pair of Big 12 matches.

The Series
Baylor leads the all-time series against Iowa State 28-2 in their 30 matchups with the Cyclones. However, Iowa State grabbed a win in the last meeting between the two schools, a 6-1 win in Waco last year. Anna Supapitch Kuearum grabbed a singles win that day over Daniella Dimitrov, 6-2, 6-4. The Cyclones will look to make it two in a row on Friday.
The Cyclones have gone up against TCU 10 times since the Horned Frogs joined the conference in 2012. TCU leads the series 7-3, but Iowa State has won the last three matches between the two programs. The Cyclones grabbed a win last year, 4-0, in Ames, with Kuearum clinching the match with a win over Destinee Martins.
Last Time Out
The Cyclones went up against two ranked opponents last week in No. 35 BYU and No. 27 Texas Tech. Iowa State was back at full strength, fielding six players for the first time since February 9. The Cyclones battled hard but came up short in both matches, moving their record to 2-10 and 0-5 in conference play. To read more about last weekend, click here.
Player to Watch
Ashlee Narker picked up another singles win against BYU's Kendall Kovick last Thursday, 7-5, 6-3, scoring the only point for the Cyclones in the defeat against the Cougars. Narker has taken two out of her last three matches, making her singles record 4-5 on the season. She is also 2-3 in conference play so far. The freshman from Saint Ives, Australia, will look to continue her winning ways as the Cyclones travel to Texas to take on Baylor and TCU this week.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
Kuearum is one win away from her 80th win in singles and doubles at Iowa State. The junior from Bangkok, Thailand, is currently 44-31 in singles and 35-17 in doubles during her time with the Cyclones. She is currently 6-5 at the No. 1 singles spot and 4-3 on the season at the No. 1 doubles spot with partner Isabella Dunlap.
In the Rankings
Iowa State will be going up against the No. 35 team in the country in the Baylor Bears and the No. 52 team in the country in the TCU Horned Frogs.
They will also have a couple of opportunities to score ranked wins in singles and doubles this week. Baylor has one player in the ITA singles rankings published this week, former Cyclone Miska Kadleckova who comes in ranked at No. 101. TCU also has one player listed in the singles rankings, Destinee Martins, ranked No. 121 with a record of 13-9 for the year.
Baylor also has one doubles pair in the ITA rankings this week, Isabella Harvinson and Lyubov Kostenko, ranked No. 66 with a record of 6-1 on the year.
