Arangio Earns Singles Win Against Texas

AMES, Iowa – Gala Arangio grabbed a singles win Saturday as Iowa State (2-14, 0-9) fell to No. 7 Texas (15-4, 8-1), 4-1

Arangio picked up her second singles dual win of the year as she dominated her match against Texas' Maddy MacNeille, 6-3, 6-0. It is Arangio's second win in her last four matches, and her second win against a Big 12 opponent this year.

In doubles Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Valeska San Martin partnered up for the second time this season at the No. 3 doubles spot. They went up against Texas' Shacf Lieberman and Taisiya Pachkaleva, where the Cyclones would be outdueled, dropping the match, 6-0. Isabella Dunlap and Ashlee Narker paired up at the No. 1 doubles spot against Mailaika Rapolu and Tanya Sasnouskaya. The pair battled to tie the game up at 2-2 before falling in the match, 6-2. This gave Texas the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Valeska San Martin went up against Vivian Ovrootsky at the No. 5 singles spot where she took an early lead, 2-1, but couldn't keep her advantage as she would drop the two sets, 6-2, 6-1, giving Texas a 2-0 lead, before Arangio's win cut the deficit to 2-1.

Dunlap went up against Charlotte Chavatipon at the No. 3 single spot where she dropped two sets to Chavatipon, 6-0, 6-3. This gave Texas a 3-1 lead, only needing one more win to clinch the match.

They would clinch the win as Juliette Nask fell at the No. 4 singles spot to No.111 Pachkaleva, 6-4, 6-1.

The rest of the matches were abandoned after Texas clinched the win.
