AMES, Iowa – Iowa State dropped a Friday afternoon Big 12 tennis matchup to No. 55 UCF, 4-0, at the Ames High Tennis Complex.
UCF (9-11, 6-6 Big 12) got on the board first by capturing the doubles point against the Cyclones (3-16, 1-11).
Iowa State was forced to forfeit at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, giving the Knights an edge to start the match. At No. 1 doubles, Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Ashlee Narker started things off for the Cyclones with a 6-4 win over UCF's Anique Kattenberg and Noel Saidenova, setting up a deciding match at No. 2 doubles.
Juliette Nask and Valeska San Martin rallied back to force a tiebreak, but UCF's Sophia Biolay and Jantje Tilbuerger owned the break and won 7-6, (2).
In singles action, UCF quickly clinched its third point with a 6-0, 6-2 win by Biolay over Kuearum.
The match was clinched when UCF's Olivia Lincer beat Nask, 6-3, 6-2.
Iowa State closes the regular season Sunday against Houston at 10 a.m.
