AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team travels this week to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for the Big 12 Championships hosted by Oklahoma State. The Cyclones will take on No. 40 BYU in the tournament's first round on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.

The Series
This week's match at the Big 12 Championships will be the third meeting between the Cougars and the Cyclones. BYU took the match between the two schools earlier in the season, 6-1, and a 2-0 lead in the all-time series. Ashlee Narker got a singles win that day when she went up against Kendall Kovick, taking the match, 7-5, 6-3.
Last Time Out
The Cyclones picked up their second Big 12 win of the season last weekend against Houston. Iowa State won the doubles point for the first time since Feb. 9 against Old Dominion, then clinched the match victory with singles wins from Anna Supapitch Kuearum, Narker, Juliette Nask and Gala Arangio. This win improved the Cyclones record this year to 4-16 and 2-11 in the Big 12. To read more about last weekend, click here.
Player to Watch
Narker is coming off an impressive week of play in the Big 12. Narker paired up with first-time partner Kuearum against UCF and Houston in doubles last weekend. The pair went 2-0 in their matches, helping the Cyclones take the doubles point against Houston.
Narker also grabbed a singles win against Houston's Laura Slisane at the No. 2 singles spot. This win is her second at the No. 2 singles spot this year and sixth overall at Iowa State.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
Kuearum is the ninth Cyclone in school history to win 10 matches at the No. 1 singles spot in a season. Kuearum is 10-8 in her first season at the No.1 singles position this year. She is 5-5 in her last 10 matches.
In the Rankings
The Cyclones will have a few opportunities to get ranked wins this week at the Big 12 Championships. BYU is currently the No. 40 team in the nation in ITA's rankings. They have one singles player in the rankings and two doubles pairs. The singles player is Yujia Huang, who is ranked No. 114. The doubles pairs are No. 41 Emilee Astle and Kendall Kovick, and No. 89 Jacque Dunyon and Yujia Huang.
