AMES, Iowa - Iowa State men's golfer Luke Gutschewski is the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after leading the Cyclones to a tournament win at the Gopher Invitational last week, beating host Minnesota by two strokes.Â
The senior from Elkhorn, Nebraska, finished in a tie for third at the event, his seventh top-3 finish in his career. Gutschewski carded a 54-hole score of 211 (74-66-71) and finished in a tie for the team-high with twelve birdies.Â
Gutschewski lowered his school history-leading career stroke average to 71.52, as the Cyclones picked up the win in their first tournament of the year, and their fourth tournament win dating back to the start of the 2023-24 season.Â
Iowa State men's golf looks to stay hot as they compete in the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, today, Sept. 16, at 8 a.m. and tomorrow Sept. 17.
About the Cyclone Club
The Cyclone Club spearheads the fundraising efforts for the Iowa State Athletic department and gifts of all sizes directly impact the lives of over 450 student-athletes at Iowa State. Annual Cyclone Club gifts provide ISU student-athletes the opportunity to compete in their sport at the highest level, while preparing them to utilize their Iowa State degree once their athletic careers have concluded. Iowa State Athletics does not receive any State or University funding to operate, thereby making it one of the nation's only financially self-sufficient athletic programs.
