04.14.2025 | Softball, Cyclone Club
AMES, Iowa - Iowa State softball's Sydney Malott was tabbed the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after leading ISU to a series victory at No. 17 Oklahoma State, its first road series win over a ranked opponent in program history.
Malott blasted four home runs across the three-game series, including two long balls in a 5-4 series-opening win over the Cowgirls in extra innings. It marked her first career multi-home run game.
Including Iowa State's midweek contest against Kansas City, Malott was one of just two Cyclones to record a hit in all four games last week and led the team in homers (4), RBI (6), total bases (18) and slugging percentage (1.385).
Malott helped ISU achieve a laundry list of historical feats with her performance last week:
- Iowa State tied last year's win output with its 20th victory of the season.
- The Cyclones earned their first ranked road series win in program history.
- The team set the program mark for most conference wins in a season (9).
- ISU won its third conference series of the year - a single-season program high.
- The Cyclones won a series at Oklahoma State for the first time since 1983.
- Iowa State won its fifth Big 12 series-opening game of the season.
Iowa State is back in action Tuesday, April 15 when it returns to the Cyclone Softball Complex to take on Iowa as part of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. The Cyclones and Hawkeyes will do battle at 4 p.m. and the action will be streamed live on ESPN+.
