AMES, Iowa - Iowa State softball's Jaiden Ralston and golfer Zach May were named Cyclone Club Athletes of the Week after stand-out performances in their respective sports last week.
JAIDEN RALSTON
Raltston was the lone ISU pitcher to appear in all three games last weekend, as she helped the team earn its second-consecutive Big 12 series win over Arizona State. Ralston limited the Sun Devils to just one hit across her five combined innings pitched, earning a save in the process. It marked her fifth career save and ties her for the sixth-most all-time in ISU history.
The Paso Robles, California native tallied three strikeouts while opposing batters hit just .063 against her.
Iowa State is now 6-3 in league play, matching its Big 12 win total from each of the last four seasons. Ralston has helped the Cyclones to back-to-back conference series wins for the first time since 2023, and the 6-3 start to conference play is the best in school history.
ZACH MAY
May tallied five birdies in his final seven holes to help him shoot ten under-par and secure the first tournament victory of his career at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate. May shot six under-par (66) in the final round, tying the lowest round of his career. His 54-hole score of 206 was also a career best.
The junior from Christchurch, New Zealand totaled the most birdies in the entire field, carding fifteen birdies to help him pass the 200 birdie-mark in his career.
May's stellar final round led a furious Iowa State rally to put the Cyclones on top of the team leaderboard. ISU trailed No. 49 Marquette by 16 strokes entering the final day of play, but the Cyclones shot the second-lowest round as a team in school history, carding a 268 (-20) to complete the comeback and win by two strokes. It marked Iowa State's third team victory of the season. The Cyclones shot an 837 (-27) through their three rounds, tying the seventh-lowest 54-hole score as a team in program history.
