NUMBERS OF NOTE
2 - Two plays was all it took for Iowa State to score its first touchdown of the season. On the first play from scrimmage, Rocco Becht threw it up to Jaylin Noel, who was sandwiched between two defenders and somehow came down with the ball, for for a 54-yard connection before finding Jayden Higgins in the end zone from 21 yards out just one play later.
7.2 - Abu Sama III averaged 7.2 yards on five carries in the season opener, including bursts of 16, 13 and nine yards.
11 - In his second-career start, redshirt sophomore Jontez Williams led the team with a career-best 11 tackles against North Dakota.
33 - Jaylin Noel has a reception in 33-straight games, tied for the fourth-longest active streak in FBS and in school history.
CYCLONES ON CBS
Saturday's Cy-Hawk game will be televised on CBS, marking ISU's second time playing on the network with the other appearance being the school's first nationally televised contest in the 1971 Sun Bowl against LSU.
JAY SQUARED
Iowa State boasts one of the nation's top receiving tandems in Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. The duo makes the Cyclones one of six teams to have multiple players on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. In 2023, Between Noel (66 rec., 820 yds, 7 tds) and Higgins (53 rec., 983 yds, 6 tds) the duo combined for 119 catches, 1,803 yds and 13 tds.
In the season opener against North Dakota, the pair combined for 13 receptions, 210 yards and two touchdowns.
HUFFORD DOES IT ALL
Sixth-year senior Jarrod Hufford started at center in the season opener, marking his team-best 34th consecutive start. He has now started in four spots along the offensive line during his career.
