AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's basketball juniors Audi Crooks and Addy Brown earned Big 12 recognition as members the league's Starting 5, announced by the Conference on Monday. Crooks was named the Player of the Week while Brown made her debut on the Starting 5 team.
Crooks broke the Iowa State single-game scoring record on Wednesday night against Valparaiso, punishing the one-on-one matchup in the low post with 43 points on 18-of-23 shooting in just 20 minutes of action. She followed up with ISU's third-most field goals in a perfect shooting game (8-of-8 FG) on Sunday against Norfolk State. Crooks finished the week shooting over 83 percent from the floor (26-of-31) while averaging 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per contest. Her five blocks against the Spartans are the most by a Cyclone since Denae Fritz tallied five stuffs against Baylor (March 10, 2023) in the Big 12 tournament.
Brown had a week full of milestones, recording her 1,000th career point on Wednesday and Iowa State's fourth-ever triple-double on Sunday. Brown scored 18 points against Valparaiso to reach the 1,000-point milestone, Iowa State's 36th member of the club. The Derby, Kansas native returned Sunday with a balanced stat sheet, scoring 11 while passing out 11 assists and pulling down 10 rebounds. The performance marked the first triple-double by a Cyclone in over a decade and the first by a Big 12 player in nearly a year (Serena Sundell, Kansas State, Dec. 5, 2024).
No. 12 Iowa State returns to action on Thursday night, hitting the road for the first time this season to meet Drake. The in-state rivalry game tips off at 6:00 p.m. in Des Moines and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
