AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's Isabella Agrusso, Chloe Broughton Ella Ciardullo, Lauren Hernandez, Regan John and Ella Zimmerman have been named Academic All-District recipients by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced.
The Cyclones have now had six athletes, the maximum amount, named to the All-District team for the fourth consecutive season. Hernandez earned the honor for the second-straight season, while the other five were all first-time recipients.
Agrusso, who transferred from Michigan State after her freshman season, was a constant for Iowa State during her three years in Ames. Agrusso would go on to start 34 games, scoring a pair of goals and dishing out three assists. Her second career goal came against Creighton in the final minutes to give ISU its 200th program win.
Broughton wrapped her four-year Cyclone career this season by appearing and starting in all but the first contest. A constant on the backline, Broughton played the second-most minutes by any Cyclone this season. She was over 1,200 minutes each year as a Cyclone, totaling six points on one goal and four assists.
Ciardullo transferred into ISU after spending her freshman season at Virginia Tech. Over the last three years, Ciardullo started 22 matches for ISU, collecting three assists. All three of her assists came in her senior season, as she made ten starts and finished with a career-high 893 minutes played.
Hernandez, like Agrusso, Broughton and Ciardullo, wrapped her Cyclone career in 2025. A team captain and enforcer in the midfield, Hernandez finished her ISU career starting 53 of 68 games she played in with four goals and six assists. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member, this is Hernandez's second year on the CSC All-District team.
The only non-academic Cyclone senior to make the All-District team, John broke out as a junior for ISU. After starting just seven games in her first two years, John started 13 in 2025. She finished the season with a goal and an assist, both the first of her career, attempting nine shots and putting seven on goal.
Zimmerman, the team's captain on the backline, had a standout redshirt junior year for ISU. Zimmerman finished with three goals, the second-most on the team, and started 16 of 17 matches. For the majority of the season, Zimmerman was leading the team in goals from her center back position.
The 2025 Academic All-District Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
