Alberto Vilar, Shulzhenko Qualify For NCAA Tournament

Ames, Iowa – Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Stanislava Shulzhenko become the first players in school history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament after earning a top three finish in the ITA Sectionals Saturday.
Alberto Vilar and Shulzhenko dropped their semifinal match Saturday morning, before beating TCU's Yu-Chin Tsai and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon in the third-place match and earning a trip to Orlando. The NCAA tournament begins November 18.
Over in Waco, Texas, the Cyclones picked up a couple of singles wins in the H-E-B Invitational. Valeska San Martin Ramirez took down UTSA's Laia Tarazona Peyro, 6-3, 2-6, [10-0], while Gabriella Kellner defeated UTRGV's Luna Buijtenhuijs, 6-2, 6-4. Julia Camblor, Suzanie Pretorius and Kira Smith all dropped their respective singles matches.
The five Cyclones will be back in action in Waco Sunday morning.
