IRVING, Texas - For the second time this season, Iowa State senior Joshua Jefferson has been named to the Big 12 Men's Basketball Starting Five.
In Iowa State's 89-61 victory over Houston Christian on Monday, Jefferson turned in 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocked shots, becoming one of just five players in the country to have a game with at least those numbers this season. It was his 19th-straight game in double figures, while it was his fifth game over 20 points this year, finishing with a season-high against the Huskies. He's the only player in the country averaging at least 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game this season.
The Cyclones open Big 12 play on Friday, Jan. 2 against West Virginia. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum on ESPN2.
