AMES, Iowa - Iowa State junior Milan Momcilovic has been named the Big 12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while he was also named to the United States Basketball Writer's Association Players of the Week Team.
Momcilovic scored a game-high 20 points in the Cyclones' 81-58 victory against then-No. 1 Purdue on Saturday, tying the largest road margin of victory against the No. 1 team in the history of the AP Poll. The junior from Pewaukee, Wis., was 8-of-17 from the field, which represented Purdue's largest margin of defeat inside Mackey Arena for a non-conference game. The forward hit eight consecutive 3-pointers and scored 27 points in Iowa State's 132-68 win over Alcorn State on Wednesday, as the team set a Big 12 single-game record with 22 3-pointers. For the week, Momcilovic averaged 23.5 points and 3.5 steals to earn his first Big 12 weekly award.
No. 4 Iowa State returns to action on Thursday, as the Cyclones host Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum and will air on FS1.
