Cyclones Fall To BYU, 4-2

PROVO, Utah – No. 56 Iowa State (9-8, 3-6 Big 12) dropped a 4-2 decision Thursday to BYU (15-6, 5-3) in Big 12 Conference play.
The Cyclones lost the doubles point, falling 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
ISU was able to bounce back quickly in singles and tie up the match at 1-1. Freshman Suzanie Pretorius earned a 6-0, 6-2 win against Sue Yan Tan on court five.
BYU responded with wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles to go up 3-1.
ISU maintained control at the bottom of the lineup as Valeska San Martin Ramirez earned a 7-6 (6), 6-2 win against Madison Smith at No. 6 singles.
The Cougars clinched the match at No. 1 singles as Bobo Huang earned a come-from-behind victory against ISU freshman Julia Camblor, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.
The Cyclones return to action Saturday against Utah at noon (CT) in Salt Lake City.
