Cyclones Down Kansas State, 4-1

AMES, Iowa – Playing its first match on the outdoor courts at the new Iowa State Tennis Facility, the No. 65 Cyclones (11-9, 5-7 Big 12) defeated No. 53 Kansas State (9-10, 6-6), 4-1, Friday afternoon.

Suzanie Pretorius earned her first career match-clinching win, a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Maria Santos.

The Cyclones clinched the doubles point for the first time since the Houston match on March 16 with wins on courts one and two. Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Cristina Ramos Sierra rolled past Maralgoo Chogsomjav and Charlotte Keitel in dominant fashion, 6-1. Julia Camblor and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar clinched the match with a 6-2 win on court two over Sana Garakani and Maria Santos.

Camblor extended the lead with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win over Zhanel Rustemova at No. 2 singles and Ramos Sierra pulled the Cyclones within a point of the clinch with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles against Veronika Kulhava.

The Cyclones will face No. 19 Oklahoma State on Senior Day Sunday at noon. The Cyclones will recognize their lone senior Kuearum at the event.
