AMES, Iowa – Christy Johnson Lynch has announced the promotion of Marc Neef and Ciara Jones to associate head coach. Neef has been an assistant coach on staff for the previous four seasons and Jones the past three.
"Ciara and Marc have worked incredibly hard the past several years to elevate the Iowa State volleyball program," Johnson-Lynch said. "It's been awesome to be a part of their journey and to see them grow and evolve in this profession. They are wonderful representatives of our sport and Iowa State, and I'm excited to continue to work together to make Iowa State volleyball one of the best programs in the country."
Neef primarily works with the middle blockers while Jones oversees pin hitters and recruiting efforts. The duo helped guide ISU to a 23-8 record in 2025, the most wins since 2011, while Iowa State was ranked in the final AVCA Coaches Poll for the first time since 2017 at No. 22. The team hit at .245 on the season, the fourth-highest efficiency in program history.
ISU placed five on All-Big 12 teams in 2025, including right side Tierney Jackson picking up All-Big 12 Second Team and true freshmen Alea Goolsby and Reagan Hanfelt earning Big 12 All-Rookie Team selection.
Neef previously coached at Stony Brook, UCF and Cornell College. Jones joined the Cyclones following coaching at Oklahoma, Howard, Clemson. Jones played at Marquette from 2008-12, where she helped lead the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
