Leading Off
After securing its first opening weekend with a winning record since 2022, Iowa State will look to stay hot as it heads to Arlington to compete in the Drea City Invitational. ISU put up a combined 46 runs on opening weekend, collecting 57 hits.
This weekend's tournament will be Iowa State's first opportunity to play outside, on dirt, this year. The Cyclones opened the season at the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic, which is played indoors.
Wisconsin is the lone other team entering the tournament field with a winning record, as the Badgers are 3-2. UT Arlington has opened the season 2-3, while Tulsa enters with a record of 1-4.

Scouting the Cyclones
Iowa State's opening weekend offense was spearheaded by senior Reagan Bartholomew, who had a team high in hits (10), runs (8), doubles (4) and home runs (2). She's batting .625 through five games.
Also off to hot starts are returners McKenna Andrews, Jessie Clemons, Tiana Poole, and Sydney Malott, all of whom are batting over .400. Kadence Shepherd has a team-high eight RBI, while Tatum Johnson has seven.
Freshman Liv Palumbo logged the most innings of any Cyclone pitcher, as she hurled 8.1 frames and owns a team-best seven strikeouts. Ava Mullen and Lauren Schurman each threw 7.2 innings, while Jaiden Ralston appeared in two games.
The Cyclones own a .410 batting average and have produced 46 runs on 57 hits. The team has 22 extra-base hits with 41 RBI and has drawn 16 walks. ISU holds a collective 4.96 ERA and has allowed 34 hits in 29.2 innings of work.
Opponent Outlook
Wisconsin opened its season in Florida, where it faced off with Stonehill, Army, FAU, and Ohio State. The Badgers own a .383 batting average, scored 32 runs and notched 46 hits. The pitching staff owns a 2.33 ERA.
Tulsa began its year in Louisiana, facing off with McNeese State, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe and Jacksonville State. Through one weekend, the Golden Hurricane bat .223, scoring 24 runs on 31 hits. The TU pitching staff owns a 6.06 ERA with 20 strikeouts.
Host school UT Arlington began its campaign in New Mexico, picking up a pair of wins. The Mavericks competed against UMass Lowell, New Mexico State and UTEP. The Mavs are hitting .356 and have scored 58 runs on 58 hits. The pitching staff holds a 9.48 ERA.
Series History
The Cyclones and Badgers will meet for the fourth and fifth times this weekend, with Wisconsin holding the series advantage, 3-0. ISU and Tulsa will play for the tenth time, with the Golden Hurricane owning a 6-3 record. Iowa State and host school UTA will play for the fourth and fifth times in a series that ISU holds the edge, 2-1.

Iowa State will return to action next weekend when it heads up I-35 to compete in the Gopher Indoor Classic. The Cyclones will face Minnesota, North Dakota State, Central Michigan and LIU (2x) in the tournament. Action starts on Friday, Feb. 20, against CMU at 2 pm.
