Moberly To Lead Academic Services Unit

AMES, Iowa – Dalton Moberly has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Support, the Iowa State Athletics Department announced today.
Moberly has served in the athletics department for six years, including spending the Spring 2026 semester as interim director of the academic support department.
"I'm excited to have Dalton serving in this role," said Shamaree Brown, ISU's Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Services. "He's served the student-athletes and coaches in our department at a high level as an assistant director and since assuming the interim director role in January, he has provided steady, effective direction during a peiord marked by multiple complex, high-stakes situations, while maintaining strong support for student-athletes, staff and campus partners."
Since he arrived at Iowa State, the athletics department has posted a school-record graduation success rate every year, including a 95 percent GSR in the most recent report from the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
In the May 2026 Academic Progress Rate (APR) report, Iowa State recorded a multi-year institutional average of 992, tied for the second-best mark in the Big 12 Conference. Eleven ISU teams registered perfect single-year scores.
In the fall of 2025, Iowa State student-athletes posted a 3.38 grade point average, the second-highest mark on record. Sixty student-athletes earned a 4.00 GPA, 194 were named to the Dean's List and 369 were recognized as scholar-athletes.
Moberly is responsible for creating comprehensive academic support programming to ensure student-athlete academic growth, from initial orientation through graduation. He is also responsible for collaborating and consulting with campus constituents to assess academic progress and developing policies that adhere to NCAA, Big 12 and institutional eligibility standards.
Moberly has also spent five years at Drake following a one year stint at Duke University.
He is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri where he earned a bachelor's degree in social studies teacher education in 2012. He was a student-athlete for the Mules, competing in cross country and track and field.
The Kearney, Missouri, native received his master's degree from UCM in sport management in 2014.
