AMES, Iowa – Cash Wilcke has been added to the Iowa State women's wrestling staff as Director of Operations/Assistant Coach, head coach Alli St. John announced Tuesday. Wilcke joins the Cyclones following three seasons as an assistant coach for the men's and women's wrestling teams at William Penn.
Wilcke is the second staff addition by St. John, who will look to make another assistant coach hire by January 2027. Wilcke will handle day-to-day operations and travel logistics for the program along with serving as an assistant coach.
"Cash is someone who brings expertise in multiple areas to our staff," St. John said. "He has experience handling day-to-day operations for a college team and has a great wrestling mind to help our athletes develop. Cash has a relentless work ethic and I'm excited to welcome him to Ames!"
Wilcke worked alongside former William Penn head coach and current Cyclone assistant Jake Kadel where they helped the women's program to three-consecutive top five NAIA national finishes. Wilcke was instrumental in improving upon the Statesmen's 33rd-place finish at the 2023 NAIA National Championships prior to his arrival in Oskaloosa. In three seasons with Wilcke on staff, the Statesmen placed fourth twice before a national runner-up finish in 2025-26.
Prior to William Penn, Wilcke coached one season at Iowa Wesleyan where he led the women's squad to a seventh-place team finish at the 2023 NAIA National Championships
In total, Wilcke has mentored 44 national qualifiers, 23 All-Americans and 10 national champions in his career. He has extensive experience with the logistics involved in running a program such as competition scheduling, expenditures, budgeting, travel, recruiting and alumni relations.
A Battle Creek, Iowa native, Wilcke wrestled at the University of Iowa from 2015-20 where he was a three-time NCAA Qualifier for the Hawkeyes.
He owns a bachelor's degree in sport and rec management from the University of Iowa and a graduate degree in athletic administration from Iowa Wesleyan University.
