AMES, Iowa – Iowa State seniors Paul Beauvy and Zach May are headed to the NCAA Columbus Regional as individual selections. The NCAA Columbus Regional is hosted by Ohio State and will take place May 18-20 at the OSU Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio. This will be the second time in program history Iowa State has sent two student-athletes to an NCAA Regional, as Tripp Kinney and Lachlan Barker qualified in 2021 together.
Beauvy and May bring Iowa State's total to 13 student-athletes that have been selected to an NCAA Regional in program history. It is the fourth-straight year that a Cyclone has been selected as an individual, as Beauvy played in the NCAA Urbana Regional last season and Luke Gutschewski earned a trip to the NCAA Regionals the two seasons prior. Beauvy and Gutschewski are the only two players in school history to earn multiple trips to the NCAA Regional as an individual. May will be making his first trip to an NCAA Regional in his career.
This season, Beauvy led the team in stroke average at 70.94, the fifth-best single-season average in school history. Beauvy and Gutschewski are the only players in school history with multiple seasons under 71. In 11 events played this season, Beauvy has finished in the Top 10 five times, including a victory at the Gopher Invitational to start the season. The Cyclones have counted Beauvy's score a team-best 29 times in 32 rounds.
In the opening round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Beauvy shot a 64. It was the second time in his career he had shot a 64 in a round, tied for the third-lowest round in program history. Beauvy will enter the NCAA Columbus Regional with a 71.52 career stroke average, the best in program history.
May was second on the team in stroke average at 71.69. In 11 events played this season, May has finished in the Top five three times. May finished second at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational during the fall season, while bringing home third place finishes at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate and the Tiger Collegiate this spring. May shot a career-best 65 in the final round of the N.I.T. this spring, tied for the 11th-best score in program history. May has played 116 career rounds for the Cyclones, tallying a 73.39 career-stroke average.
Beauvy shot a 209 at the 2025 NCAA Urbana Regional, where he finished 11th overall. His 209 is tied for the fourth-lowest NCAA 54-hole score in school history. Beauvy and May will look to qualify for their first career NCAA Men's Golf Championship appearance. To qualify for the championship, Beauvy or May will need to be the low individual not among the five teams advancing.
The 2026 NCAA Men's Golf Championship will take place on May 29-June 3 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
