CYCLONES vs. REDHAWKS
Iowa State and Southeast Missouri are set to meet for just the second time in the programs' history. The first meeting was a 42-10 Cyclone win in the 2022 season opener.
In that victory, Xavier Hutchinson caught three touchdown passes from Hunter Dekkers, all in the first half. Hutchinson, now with the Houston Texans, finished with eight catches for 128 yards. It was the last three TD reception game by a Cyclone.

PLENTY OF NEW FACES
Iowa State will kick off the 2026 season exactly nine months after Jimmy Rogers was named its head football coach on the evening of December 5. Since then, ISU has undergone nearly a complete roster overhaul.
- Iowa State's roster of 126 players is the third-largest non-service academy roster in FBS. Of those 126 players, 83 are newcomers to the squad. Forty-three players returned to Ames following the coaching change.
- The Cyclones are the only Power-4 team without a returning starter on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball. North Texas joins ISU as the only other FBS team without a returning starter.
- 15 players followed Rogers from Washington State to Iowa State. Nine players that played at or were signed to play at South Dakota State have joined Rogers at ISU.
- Fun Fact: New quarterback Jaylen Raynor was able to stand in front of the team and name every single player on the 126-man roster less than two weeks after arriving on campus.

UNDER CENTER
Cyclone quarterback Jaylen Raynor transferred into the program after three seasons at Arkansas State. He is second nationally among active QBs with 36 career starts, winning 20 games. Raynor leads the nation's active signal callers with eight fourth quarter game-winning drives. He has played at Jack Trice Stadium previously, starting games against the Cyclones the last two seasons, which included in Ames in 2024.
Since 1996, 74 FBS players have passed for 8,600 yards and rushed for more than 1,100 yards as Raynor has done. He is the only active player that has reached those marks.

NEW-LOOK DEFENSE
Iowa State makes the transition from Jon Heacock's three-man defensive front to four in the trenches, which brought Rogers and new defensive coordinator Jesse Bobbit great success at South Dakota State and Washington State. Rogers and Bobbit's system has been stout, ranking first (FCS), fifth (FCS) and 15th (FBS) nationally in total defense in three seasons at their previous stops.
Isaac Terrell had a breakout junior season playing defensive end at Washington State in 2025. He was named Pac-12 Conference Top Defensive Line Performer after finishing with 28 tackles, including 12 for loss and seven sacks.
KICKIN' IT WITH KYLE
One of the nation's best kickers is a Cyclone. Kyle Konrardy is 22-of-23 inside 40 yards in his career and is 26-of-29 from 45 yards or closer. He has five career kicks of at least 50 yards, the first Cyclone to do so since Grant Mahoney (2008-11).
Konrardy was responsible for the longest made field goal in FBS last season, a 63-yarder against South Dakota. It was a school record and the longest in Jack Trice Stadium history. He also made a 54-yard field goal to beat Iowa for the second season in a row.
OTHER NOTABLES
- Iowa State has posted a winning record in eight of the last 10 seasons.
- Since the start of the 2024 season, ISU owns a .731 winning percentage (19-7), tied for 17th nationally during that time and third among Big 12 teams.
- ISU has had a player post either 100 rushing or receiving yards in nine-straight games.
- ISU has rushed for at least 150 yards in seven-straight games, its longest streak since 2020. Only four FBS teams (ISU, Navy, South Alabama, Utah) have a streak of at least seven games with 150 rushing yards.
- Since 2018, Iowa State is 37-15 (.712) at Jack Trice Stadium.
- Between Konrardy and RB/Return Specialist Aiden Flora, ISU returns five Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honorees from 2025. The Cyclones also added Cameron Pettaway, who was an FWAA All-American and First Team All-MAC as a kick returner.
