Cyclones Wrap Up First Day At Husker Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. – Iowa State posted a strong showing on day one at the Husker Invitational, going 2-0 in doubles action and 2-2 in singles play.
Millie Day started her Cyclone career with wins in both singles and doubles. Alongside Valentina Vargas, Day defeated the Kansas duo of Hyejeong Ahn and Simryn Jacob, 8-6.
In singles, Day dropped the first set but rallied to beat Ahn, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.
On the other doubles court for the Cyclones, Valeska San Martin Ramirez and Gabriella Kellner beat Denver's Natali Jaiani and Ruby Hansen, 8-3.
San Martin Ramirez recorded a dominant single win, cruising past Jaiani, 6-2, 6-2.
Action continues Saturday at the Husker Invitational.
