Before ISU:

Was the under-20 Welsh champion in the outdoor 800 and 1,500 meters ... was a four-time national champion in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters from 1995-98 ... recorded the 10th fastest time ever for a 15-year old in the 1,500 meters in 1996 ... finished second in the national cross country championships in 1998.
