Jake Menage is in his first season as assistant wide receivers coach at Iowa State.
Menage has been on staff with ISU head coach Jimmy Rogers in stops at both South Dakota State and Washington State.
In 2025, Menage coached the Washington State wide receivers as the program went 7-6 overall and won the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl as the staff melded together a roster with 75 newcomers.
Menage, a Springfield, Minnesota, native, coached wide receivers as SDSU won the 2023 FCS national championship. That 2023 team featured twin brothers Jadon and Jaxon Janke, who both finished their careers in the SDSU top 10 for career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Jadon Janke was a first team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection, while Jaxon Janke received honorable mention accolades.
In 2024, Menage oversaw a unit that contributed to an SDSU offense that finished 12th nationally in total offense at 434.1 yards per game. Receiver Griffin Wilde earned Second Team All-America honors.
Menage was offensive coordinator at NAIA Northwestern College during the 2022 season, helping lead the Red Raiders to a national championship. Northwestern led the NAIA in third-down efficiency (54.8), while ranking second nationally in total offense (467.6 ypg) and third in scoring (43.7 ppg).
He was a finalist for NAIA Coordinator of the Year, coaching 10 all-conference selections and three All-Americans on a squad that finished with a 13-1 record.
Menage also spent time at the FBS level with a three-year stint at Northern Illinois, where he coached wide receivers and tight ends.
He began his coaching career as a student assistant at SDSU during the 2018 spring season, following a playing career from 2013-17 in which he was recruited as a quarterback before moving to wide receiver.
Menage comes from a coaching family as his cousin, Pete, is also an assistant coach on Rogers’ ISU staff. His late father, Jeff, served as offensive coordinator at South Dakota State during the 1997 and 1998 seasons.
Menage earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from South Dakota State in 2017. He received master’s degrees from Northern Illinois in sport management in 2020 and sport and exercise psychology in 2021.
