Jalon Bibbs is in his first year as defensive line coach for the Iowa State football program. Bibbs has coached alongside Iowa State head coach Jimmy Rogers since 2023.
The Phoenix, Arizona native coached the same unit at Washington State in 2025, helping the Cougars win a bowl game despite a roster that featured 75 newcomers.
The Cougars allowed just 20.2 points per game during the regular season, including just 12.7 points in the final eight games. In total, WSU allowed 10 points or less in six contests.
Washington State racked up 31 sacks and was outstanding in specialty situations. The Cougars were seventh nationally in fourth down conversion defense (.333) and their red zone defense ranked 11th nationally (.727).
WSU defensive end Isaac Terrell had seven sacks and 12 tackles for loss and was the nation’s 19th-ranked edge defender by PFF during the regular season. Eleven different defensive linemen recorded at least one sack in 2025 for the Cougars.
Before heading to Pullman, Bibbs spent two seasons at South Dakota State as the Jackrabbits won the 2023 FCS National Championship and reached the semifinals in 2024. The program posted a 27-3 record during the stretch.
With the Jacks, Bibbs helped the defense lead the nation in scoring defense in both seasons, including allowing just 9.3 points per game in 2023 as SDSU finished 15-0.
In his two seasons, South Dakota State’s defensive line compiled 46 sacks and 83.5 tackles for loss. Seven of eight starting defensive linemen earned all-conference accolades, while one earned All-America honors and another was named a freshman All-American.
From 2018-22, Bibbs coached at Grand Valley State with the team going 40-8 in his four seasons with the program. He coached 15 defensive linemen to All-GLIAC honors, while two players earned All-America honors.
Bibbs has also spent time at St. Cloud State (2015-16) and his alma mater, Northern State (2017).
As a player at NSU, Bibbs earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a senior.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology/criminal justice from Northern State in 2015. He also has a master’s degree in criminal justice from St. Cloud State.
