Josh Rosenthal is in his fourth season with the Iowa State football program as an assistant director of player personnel.
Rosenthal’s work in the scouting department has helped the Cyclones secure outstanding recruiting classes. The 2022 group is considered the best recruiting class in school history, as both 247Sports and Rivals listed it in the Top 25 nationally.
The Cyclones have qualified for three bowl games in Rosenthal's tenure, earning a trip to the Camping World Bowl (2019), the Playstation Fiesta Bowl (2020) and Cheez-It Bowl (2021).
The 2020 season was historic in many ways. Iowa State finished the regular season in first place in the Big 12 standings, made the Big 12 Championship game and qualified for a New Year’s Six bowl for the first time in school history.
The Cyclones capped off the season with a 34-17 win over Oregon in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.
ISU’s eight conference wins and nine overall wins eclipsed or tied school records, and the Cyclones earned their highest ranking in school history during the season (#6) and postseason (#9).
Rosenthal spent the 2018 season as the director of football operations and wide receivers coach at Concordia (Minn.) University.
A 2011 graduate of Concordia, Rosenthal worked at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) from 2014-17 as the wide receivers and specialists coach.
Rosenthal played three seasons for Concordia, helping the Golden Bears appear in the 2010 Mineral Water Bowl.
Rosenthal and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Perry and Vale.
