Kalon Humphries is in his third season on the Iowa State football staff, spending his first two seasons graduate assistant for defense. He moved into a quality control role for 2020.Â
Humphries' work on defense helped ISU lead the Big 12 in both scoring defense (22.9) and rushing defense (115.0) in 2018, as the Cyclones went 8-5, broke the school record for conference wins in a season (six) and made the Valero Alamo Bowl.
Humphries was the assistant defensive line coach and recruiting analyst at Morehead State in 2017 after spending a season as the tight ends coach at Independence (Kan.) Community College.
A native of Novi, Mich., Humphries began his playing career at Adrian (Mich.) College. He finished his career at Michigan, where he was a member of the football team as a preferred walk-on.
He earned his degree from Michigan in 2016.
