Ray Lima, a former lynchpin of Iowa State’s stingy defense and three-time All-Big 12 performer, is in his first season as a graduate assistant for operations/recruiting.
Lima will assist with both the Cyclone operations and recruiting units.
A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Lima’s presence in ISU’s interior defensive line from 2017-19 played a key role in the Cyclones’ resurgence on the gridiron.
The two-time team captain earned All-Big 12 accolades in all three of his seasons, including second team honors in 2018 and 2019. The Cyclones appeared in three bowl games, including a victory in the 2017 Liberty Bowl, during Lima’s tenure in Ames.
Lima, who started 33 career games, had 28 tackles and 2.5 TFL as a senior. He finished his career with 87 tackles and 10.5 TFL.
Lima was a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Man of the Year Award and played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in 2019.
He earned his degree at Iowa State in 2019.
