Ricky Ciccone is in his first season as general manager for the Iowa State football program on head coach Jimmy Rogers’ staff.
Ciccone a Coshocton, Ohio native, spent the 2025 season at Washington State where he helped the Cougars gain bowl eligibility despite having a roster with 75 newcomers.
Prior to WSU, Ciccone served as director of player personnel at Louisiana. The Ragin’ Cajuns went 10-4 and advanced to the New Mexico Bowl.
He had an eight-year stint at Toledo in a variety of roles, concluding his tenure with the Rockets as director of player personnel and recruiting coordinator. Thanks in part to his efforts, Toledo reached five bowl games and earned the No. 1 recruiting class in the Mid-American Conference five times according to 247sports.com.
Ciccone has spent time at a number of collegiate and high school positions in the state of Ohio, including as running backs coach at Ohio Dominican University in 2015.
Among his stops in Ohio were Marietta College (2006-08), Marietta High School (2009) and Tri-Valley High School (2010).
In 2011, Ciccone was a defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Kenyon College. He moved on to Bluffton, where he served as the co-offensive coordinator, wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator from 2012-13. Ciccone coached four all-league receivers and return specialists for Bluffton, who tallied a school-record five conference wins in 2012.
He returned to the high school ranks in 2014 as tight end/slot receivers coach and special teams coordinator at Olentangy High School, helping the Beavers to an unbeaten 10-0 regular season and a trip to the Division II state semifinals.
Ciccone attended the University of Mount Union where he played football for legendary coach Larry Kehres from 2001-04 and was on the team for two seasons with former Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell. He was a second-team All-OAC running back as a senior and won national championships in 2001 and 2002.
Ciccone earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Mount Union in 2005 and his master’s degree in education from Marietta in 2008.
He and his wife Tessa have twins, son Luca and daughter Harper, and another daughter, Lillian.
