Allan Hanson joined T.J. Otzelberger's staff as an assistant coach in April 2026.
Hanson spent the 2025-26 season at Bradley, helping the Braves to a 21-13 overall record and a second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. The Braves earned a spot in the NIT, falling to No. 2 seed Dayton in the opening round. Bradley finished third at the ESPN Events Invitational in November, starting a seven-game winning streak.
Prior to his year in Peoria, Hanson spent two seasons at Southern Utah. During his time with the Thunderbirds, he helped develop two players that earned All-WAC honors. Hanson went to Southern Utah after spending the 2022-23 season at Western Illinois. He helped develop a First Team All-Summit League player, while the Leathernecks had enjoyed their first winning season in over 10 years. Southern Utah and Western Illinois were both coached by Rob Jeter while Hanson was on staff.
Hanson was the Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wis. from 2016-22. He tallied a 117-39 career record, while leading the Knights to the 2019 Wisconsin Division 2 State Basketball Title. Nicolet finished the year with a 27-1 record and was ranked No. 7 in the country by USA Today. Hanson was with his alma mater, Milwaukee, for the 2014-15 (Video Coordinator) and 2015-16 (Director of Basketball Operations) seasons.
A four-year letterwinner at Milwaukee, Hanson appeared in 114 games with 57 starts for the Panthers from 2004-08. Hanson helped the Panthers to a pair of ranked wins in his time, beating No. 21 Alabama in 2005 and No. 24 Oklahoma in 2006. The 2004-05 team went 26-6, winning the Horizon League Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. The 2005-06 team won the Horizon League Championship again with a 22-9 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
