Joined the Kevin Jackson’s lineup midway through year, wrestling to an 11-4 record and 2-1 in duals… finished fifth at the 2016 NCAA Championship to bring home All-America honors at 197-pounds… posted a 4-2 record at Madison Square Garden to reach the podium… pinned Virginia Tech’s No. 6 Jared Haught twice, once in 8:45 and once in 3:48… beat Northern Illinois’ Shawn Scott in the ‘Blood Round’ to solidify a top-8 finish… knocked off Ohio’s Phil Wellington by 3-1 decision in sudden-victory one to spark his All-America run… finished third at the 2016 Big 12 Championship to earn an automatic-qualifying spot for the NCAA Championship… in the consolation championship, he notched a 3-1 decision over Trent Noon of Northern Colorado in sudden-victory… upset Oklahoma’s Brad Johnson by 7-5 decision in the first round, then upended No. 1 seed Jacob Smith of West Virginia with a 4-1 victory… in his Iowa State debut, he defeated Northern Iowa’s Cod Krumwiede by 5-2 decision in West Gym.
