AMES, Iowa - Iowa State's volleyball team put forth its strongest effort at Nebraska since 1994, but even with a strong match from Sarah Rollman, the Cyclones fell to the No. 1 Huskers Wednesday, 15-5, 15-11, 15-1. The 11 points tallied by Iowa State in the second game were the most by an ISU unit in the Nebraska Coliseum in six years and the most by an Iowa State squad against the Huskers in a game since 1997. The win clinched the Big 12 Conference regular-season title for Nebraska, which improved to 17-0 in league play and 25-0 overall. Iowa State falls to 0-18 and 2-25.
Nanette Allen tallied a team-high 11 kills for Iowa State. Rollman had seven kills and six digs while hitting .267 for the Cyclones.
"I was really proud of how Sarah played," said ISU head coach Linda Grensing. "She went out and played physical against the nation's number one team. We have a young team that got a glimpse of how well we can play in the first two games. I think those first two games showed our potential for the future."
Iowa State returns home to play host to Baylor Monday at 7 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum, the Cyclones' home finale.
