LUBBOCK, Texas - The Iowa State volleyball team concluded the 2000 season with a 0-3 loss to Texas Tech, Saturday night in United Spirit Arena. The loss puts ISU's overall record at 2-27 and its conference mark at 0-20. Texas Tech improved to 24-8 overall and 12-8 in Big 12 action.
Leading the way for the Cyclones was sophomore outside hitter, Sarah Rollman. Rollman notched a team-high seven kills to go along with her four digs. Freshman Julie Mitchell was close behind as she ended the night with five kills and committed only three hitting errors on 18 attacks.
Tonight's match marked the conclusion of Stacy Nicks' and Nanette Allen's careers at Iowa State. Nicks ended the night second on the squad with six kills and registered a block assist. The 6-3 middle blocker finishes her senior season with 256 kills, which brings her career total to 776. Nicks will go down in the books as one of the better blockers to ever compete at Iowa State. She notched 111 blocks this year, including 31 solo stops for a per-game average of 1.17. The Spencer native owns 265 block assists in her career, which ranks fifth on the ISU all-time block assists individual rankings. Nicks also ranks seventh on the Iowa State career solo blocks chart with 82 blocks to her credit.
Allen, a junior redshirt, finished off her career with three kills and three digs vs. the Red Raiders. Allen now owns 191 kills and 177 digs this year. The Pasco, Wash. native tallied 461 kills and 408 digs in three season's of action. Both Nicks and Allen will graduate in the spring.
