AUSTIN, Texas - The Iowa State volleyball team fell to the University of Texas, 15-5, 15-7, 15-5, Saturday night in Gregory Gymnasium. ISU's Sarah Rollman was the top performer for the Cyclones tallying eight kills and 11 digs on the night. The Longhorn victory moved UT to 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play and dropped Iowa State to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Kathy Hahn and Jenny Tannenberger lead the Longhorn charge recording 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Along with the double digit kill total, Tannenberger notched 11 digs and served four aces.
ISU got things started in the first game tallying 12 kills at a .161 clip as a team, but were unable to reach double figure kill totals in the remain two games. Along with Rollman, Senior Stacy Nicks helped the Cyclone's cause adding six kills for a team leading .235 hitting percentage. Nicks added one solo block on the night, moving her season total to 11. She now owns 46 career solo blocks as a Cyclone.
Iowa State will be back on the court Wednesday, Sept. 20 for a match-up against Missouri. The game will go down as a home match for ISU, but is being played on the DMACC campus in Boone.
