LAS VEGAS (AP) - Jake Sullivan had 22 points and seven rebounds Friday to lead hot-shooting Iowa State to a 77-72 victory over Saint Louis in a third-round game of the Las Vegas Invitational.
The Cyclones (2-1) made 20 of 21 free throw attempts in the second half and 28-of-31 overall. Sullivan led the way, making 13 without a miss including nine after halftime.
Iowa State, which also made 24 of 43 field goal attempts (55.8 percent) plays in the third place game of the eight-team, round-robin tournament Saturday.
Tyray Pearson added 20 points, and Omar Bynum and Marcus Jefferson had 14 each for the Cyclones. Bynum also had eight rebounds.
Marque Perry led Saint Louis (1-2) with 19 points. Randy Pulley and Chris Braun added 15 apiece for the Bullikens, who play for fifth place Saturday.
Iowa State led by as many as 11 points in the second half before Pearson's basket with 2:46 remaining snapped a 66-all tie and put the Cyclones ahead for good.
Pulley's layup with 11.5 seconds to play cut Iowa State's lead to 74-72, but the Billikens were called for a technical foul when Braun called a timeout, and Saint Louis didn't have any left.
Sullivan made two free throws, and Shane Power then made one of two foul shots to complete the scoring. Power's miss was the only one for Iowa State in the second half.
Iowa State led 39-33 at halftime.
