MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Iowa State volleyball team fell in three sets at Kansas State, Saturday night in the Ahearn Fieldhouse. Brittany Dalager paced the Cyclones with nine kills and 11 digs on the night. The loss moves ISU's overall record to 4-16 and to 1-14 in Big 12 action. With the win KSU improved to 14-7 on the year and to 10-5 in league play.
The Wildcats dominated the match offensively and defensively, hitting .320 from the floor and collecting 70 digs. Kansas State committed just 17 hitting errors on 122 attacks. The Cyclones were limited to 28 kills, and a .064 hitting percentage.
ISU's Dana Koziol drilled a season-high nine kills and added six digs to help the Cyclone cause on the night. Koziol has been used mainly as a back row player this season, but saw action in the front row vs. the Wildcats. Koziol finished the match second on the squad with a .148 hitting percentage. With her six digs, Koziol has now surpassed the century mark in digs, owning 104 digs this year
Kansas State was near perfect in game one as they hit .471 for the floor, while collecting 20 kills and just four hitting errors. ISU tallied more attacks than KSU, but was able to register just nine kills in a 16-30 opening set loss.
The Cyclones were tougher defensively in game two, limiting the Wildcats to just 12 kills on 46 attacks. KSU hit .043 in the second game and committed 10 of its final 17 hitting errors in that stanza. ISU pounded 13 kills and committed just nine errors, but fell 26-30.
Kansas State got its offense rolling again, outlasting ISU to claim game three 30-16 and the match 3-0. They pounded 24 kills in the final game, while hitting .500 from the floor. ISU was held to six kills on 32 attacks and a .063 hitting percentage
Iowa State will return home to host Kansas on Wednesday in Hilton Coliseum. First serve will be at 7 p.m.
