Iowa State Men Grab No. 2 Seed in West Region

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's basketball team earned a No. 2 seed in the West Region of the 2001 NCAA Tournament. The Cyclones (25-5) will face No. 15 seed Hampton University (24-6), Thursday at the BSU Pavillion in Boise, Idaho. Start time for the game has yet to be determined.
Hampton, located in Hampton, Va., was the winner of the MEAC Tournament Championship. The Pirates were also the regular season champs.
Other games to be plyed in Boise include: No. 6 seed Wisconsin vs. No. 11 seed Georgia State, No. 3 seed Maryland vs. No. 14 seed George Mason and No. 7 seed Arkansas vs. No. 10 seed Georgetown. If Iowa State wins its opening game against Hampton, they would face the winner of Arkansas/Georgetown.
