AMES, Iowa (AP) - Bernard King hit a runner in the lane with 10.8 seconds left to break the final tie and Texas A&M beat Iowa State 52-50 Tuesday night, handing the Cyclones their sixth straight loss.
Texas A&M (9-12, 3-4 Big 12) survived a game filled with missed shots, turnovers and bad passes after Iowa State (9-13, 1-7) came from eight points down to tie the score three times.
King was just 3-for-17 before hitting his big shot to give A&M a 51-49 lead. Iowa State had a chance to tie it again when Pearson went to the line for two free throws with 4.8 seconds remaining, but he made only the second.
Iowa State's Jared Homan then was called for a foul trying to steal the ball. Fans booed, Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy stomped on the sideline and a plastic water bottle was thrown onto the court.
Nick Anderson made one of the two free throws, and Iowa State's Shane Power missed a running 3-point shot at the buzzer.
It was yet another frustrating loss for Iowa State, which has been tied or ahead in the final minute in four of its last five games. The six-game losing streak is the Cyclones' longest in conference play since they lost seven straight in the 1989-90 season.
Keith Bean led A&M with 13 points and 12 rebounds. King finished with 12 points and Nick Anderson 11.
Jake Sullivan led Iowa State with 18 points and Power scored 15. Pearson, the team's leading scorer with a 19.5 average, was scoreless in the first half and finished with just five points on 2-for-9 shooting.
Both teams shot 34 percent. Iowa State committed 22 turnovers and Texas A&M 14.
Both coaches were given simultaneous technical fouls in the first half when Texas A&M's Melvin Watkins complained that Eustachy was out of the coaching box and Eustachy yelled back at him.
They converged on the officials in front of the scorer's table at halfcourt and halfheartedly shook hands.
