AMES, Iowa (AP) - Jake Sullivan scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to lead Iowa State over Mercer 91-60 Friday.
Sullivan was 0-for-5 from the field in the first half, but opened the second half with four 3-pointers as the Cyclones went on a 24-5 run.
The Cyclones (2-0) began the run with seven consecutive baskets, including three 3-pointers from Sullivan, who was 7-of-8 from the field in the half, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range.
Cyclone freshman Adam Haluska added a career-high 15 points in his second start of the season. Marcus Jefferson had 13 and Jackson Vroman finished with 11 points for Iowa State.
Iowa State was 22-of-30 from the field in the second half and shot 60 percent for the game.
Jay January led Mercer (1-2) with 11 points and Scott Emerson added 10.
Iowa State opened the game with an 18-3 run, but Mercer went on a 16-3 run to climb within three at 22-19 with less than six minutes remaining in the half.
Iowa State led at halftime 39-34.
The Cyclones dominated the second half, taking advantage of cold shooting and turnovers by Mercer. The Bears got a pair of free throws from Delmar Wilson early in the second half, but didn't score again for nearly three minutes as Iowa State built a 56-36 lead.
Emerson ended the Mercer drought with a 3-point basket, but Iowa State scored seven unanswered points to open up a 24-point lead. The Cyclones led by as much as 31 points on four different occasions in the second half.
