AMES, Iowa (AP) - Jake Sullivan scored 23 points as Iowa State beat Jackson State 85-63 Monday.
Sullivan was 6-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range as he moved past Hurl Beechum and into fourth place on Iowa State's all-time 3-point shooting chart.
Sullivan was 8-of-8 at the free throw line as Iowa State (3-0) drained 25-of-29 from the foul line.
Sullivan scored the last 10 points of the first half, including two 3-pointers, to give the Cyclones a 45-27 halftime lead.
Four other Cyclones also scored in double figures.
Jackson Vroman finished with 14 points, Tim Barnes had 13 and Adam Haluska and Marcus Jefferson each added 10.
Cliff Walker led Jackson State (0-4) with 16 points. Tim Henderson and Jamal Ward added 12 points each with all of Ward's points coming in the last 10 minutes on four 3-point baskets.
Iowa State never trailed. Sullivan's first 3-pointer broke a 2-2 tie and Iowa State eventually led 20-12.
Jackson State closed the gap to 22-18, but Iowa State went on a 10-2 run to go ahead 32-20, and eventually stretched its lead to 35-23 on a three-point play by Barnes.
Jackson State cut the margin to 35-27 before Sullivan put on a one-man show in the last 1:56 of the half, hitting back-to-back shots to give the Cyclones a 39-27 lead and drained two 3-point baskets in the final minute of the half to give the Cyclones an 18-point cushion at halftime.
The second half wasn't close. Jackson State got a pair of free throws from Walker and a 3-point basket by Ishmael Joyce to trail 47-35 in the first minutes of play, but a 15-4 run by Iowa State put the Cyclones ahead 62-37 with 11:39 remaining.
Jackson State never got closer than 22 points the rest of the way.
