AMES, Iowa ? Brittany Dalager had 15 kills and 16 digs for her eighth double-double on the year and Dana Koziol added 18 digs, but No. 8 Kansas State proved to be too much and defeated Iowa State, 3-1,Wednesday night in Hilton Coliseum. With the loss,
The Wildcats dominated the match offensively and defensively, hitting .235 from the floor and collecting 60 digs.
ISU's Renae Pruess and Ashlie McWee drilled nine kills each and senior Michelle Gannon added three kills and two block assists to help the Cyclone cause on the night. Sophomore Amanda Craig had 29 assists, one kill and three digs for the Cyclones.
“I thought we really did a great job competing in game one,” head coach Linda Crum said. “We competed on every play, we were disciplined on the block and I thought we were incredible on defense. We created so many things by how hard we worked. We served well and really gave ourselves some opportunities in the first game.”
Game three was all
Game four was more of the same as the Wildcats hit .171 and had 16 kills compared to seven kills for ISU. Pruess and Dalager each had two kills to lead the Cyclones, while Dalager added two digs.
“Overall I was disappointed,” Crum said. “We started the match well, but just didn't take advantage of our good start. I thought Brittany (Dalager) had a solid match with her hits and digs and Renae had a decent match as well. We played a lot of kids off the bench tonight and they really came in and provided a spark for us.”
